New Fairfield by Marriott to begin construction in 2024

A new Fairfield by Marriott hotel will begin construction in Jacksonville later this year, the city announced Wednesday.

Fairfield by Marriott welcomes guests with friendly service and comfortable spaces, offering them the flexibility to work, rest and play while on the road. The new hotel will feature 79 guest rooms and a full range of conveniences, including wireless internet, guest rooms and suites designed for comfort, streamlined work areas for business travelers and Fairfield’s signature amenities — including complimentary hot breakfast and coffee, fitness centers and a 24-hour lobby market offering fresh and healthy food for those on the go.
The Fairfield will be located on Pelham Road near Bojangles, and will be operated by Rohogo Management Group. Business leaders hope to see a groundbreaking for the hotel in late summer or early fall.

“The City of Jacksonville and Jax State have been excellent partners for the last 15 years in supporting our first hotel, the University Hampton Inn,” said Wes Long, president of Rohogo. “Mayor Smith, the City Council and the Industrial Development Board have paved the way to make this new hotel a possibility and I appreciate their trust in me to bring another first class hotel operation to Jacksonville.”

More lodgings in the city will allow travelers to stay close to the events they care about, including athletic tournaments at Jacksonville State University, live entertainment at the Randy Owen Center for the Performing Arts, and visits from abroad to participate in the Cheaha Challenge bike race.

“We’re excited to see Jacksonville’s growth recognized by developers and investors who see a bright future for their businesses in the city,” said Mayor Johnny Smith, “and especially glad to know that people who visit Jacksonville will have more opportunities to stay in our community and see what we have to offer.”
